(Christmas Festival concerts are now completed - join us at a future performance.)
As always, Exultate will be presenting the widest assortment of Christmas music for voices and instruments in the area.
Join us this season for the incredible Gloria by John Rutter presented with the full orchestral version rarely heard.
Featuring brass, this concert series will have you leaping for joy (the very definition of Exultate). Vivaldi's Gloria
will also be presented along with Exultate's unique repertoire of Christmas carols. The evening will be made complete with
other choral pieces suitable for the season. These concerts include audience singing on several carols. It promises to be
a very moving and fitting introduction to the Christmas season.
- St. Matthew Passion - J. S. Bach
(St. Matthew Passion concerts are now completed - join us at a future performance.)
Regarded as one of the finest masterpieces of all Western Music, this passion setting brings to music the text of Matthew 26 and 27 concerning the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.
The evangelist tells the story, arias convey the inner feelings of us humans as we gaze upon the Golgotha scene and choruses and chorales reflect on our own place
in the drama. Bach's incredible work of art stands alone in its complete telling of the crucifixion story in a manner which stirs and moves the soul of the performer
and listener. This is a mountaintop experience not to be missed.
The performance will be enhanced for you, the listener. We will perform the work in English, it will be "staged" with actors dressed and placed on stage
in tableaus of the action while great works of art depicting the scenes taking place in the music will be projected onto large screens, changing as the action changes.
We desperately want you to "get it." We deeply desire for you to understand and experience this work as never before and, as the motto of Exultate says,
we want this to be Music that Moves the Soul!
(This activity is, in part, funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the
Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.)
Extra singers are needed for these concerts. (Click here if you are interested in auditioning for the Festival Choir.)

Exultate's spring concert will present a wonderful variety of music from lands afar and places near.
Heinz Werner Zimmerman writes music that is jazz-folk-spiritual in nature and is uplifting, joyful and exhilarating.
Exultate choir and orchestra will perform his delicious Psalmkonzert which employs rhythms and sounds by which you will be moved and thrilled.
What a treat that will be. We will also perform the wonderful Frostiana by Randall Thompson.
Rarely heard with full orchestral accompaniment, this will prove to be an accoustic treat for sure! The concert will also include the Mozart Clarinet Concerto, movements from a violin concerto and a viola concerto and other choral works by composers from other lands.
These works will all be performed in the wonderful acoustics of Lake Nokomis and Normandale Lutheran churches.
