    - Tidings of Joy - Christmas Festival

(Christmas Festival concerts are now completed - join us at a future performance.)
As always, Exultate will be presenting the widest assortment of Christmas music for voices and instruments available in the area. Join us this season for Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat. The song of Mary summarizes the message of the season like none other, and there are few pieces from Bach's pen that are as riveting and joyful as his setting of this text. Full orchestra, chorus, and soloists perform this masterpiece of the world's musical titan. Exultate will also sing its unique repertoire of Christmas carols, including the world premiere of an original carol by local composer Almon C. Bock II. The evening will be made complete with other choral pieces suitable for the Christmas season, such as the music of the famed contemporary composer Eric Whitacre. This concert includes audience singing on several carols. It promises to be a very moving and fitting introduction to the Christmas Season.

    - They Shall Have Rest - Fauré & Rutter Requiems.

(They Shall Have Rest concerts are now completed - join us at a future performance.)

Exultate's 11th Festival Concert couples two of the most beloved Requiems ever composed: by the French Romantic Gabriel Fauré and British contemporary John Rutter. Fauré's Requiem conveys the traditional Latin text in a haunting minor mode, making way for the gorgeous soprano solo, Pie Jesu. John Rutter, in addition to much of the Latin Requiem, incorporates significant Bible verses to create some of the most moving passages in the English repertoire. These two Requiems presented together will be more than the sum of their parts. Don't miss this concert of exquisite beauty.

Extra singers are needed for these concerts. (Click here if you are interested in auditioning for the Festival Choir.)

    - Alleluia From Around the World

(The Alleluia concerts are now completed - join us at a future performance.)
Exultate's spring concert will present a wonderful variety of music by Buxtehude, Martini, and Bach. Dietrich Buxtehude was an older contemporary of J.S. Bach and it was his style of complex and virtuosic music that inspired Bach in his own compositions. Buxtehude's cantata Every Word and Thought showcases his virtuosity, and also his knack for simple, lilting melodies. Domine, ad Adjuvandum Me Festina is a popular piece by the lesser-known Italian composer, Il Padre G.B. Martini. Soloists will join the choir for these two reverent liturgical pieces. The choir will also sing Johann Sebastian Bach's joyous motet for double choir, Der Geist Hilft. These Baroque pieces and many other selections will be presented in the wonderful acoustics of Lake Nokomis and Normandale Lutheran Church. ORDER TICKETS FOR THESE CONCERTS
