Other works by this composer will include art songs, instrumental works and choral motets for
the Lenten Season. Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) is a composer whose musical language is like no
other. His depth of understanding of vocal and instrumental affects is heard in the luscious and
poignant sounds which convey emotional intensity directly to the listener.
- Cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach
The Twin Cities newest professional chamber orchestra, Arius,
joins Exultate in these performances. Hear two of the
most beloved cantatas of the master, J.S. Bach. Be prepared to be moved by music which transports
the listener directly into the text through a musical language which tugs at the soul. With more
than 200 cantatas of Bach surviving, Cantatas 21 and 140 are perhaps the pinnacle examples where
