- Messiah - George Frederick Handel
"The sublime, the grand, and the tender, adapted to the most elevated, majestic and moving words,
conspired to transport and charm the ravished heart and ear."
These words, written by a reviewer of the first performance in 1742, describe the Messiah aptly.
Exultate's Festival Choir and Orchestra will present the entire Messiah during the Lenten Season,
the time in which the first performance was given in 1742. You see, Messiah is not a Christmas work.
It's text, almost entirely from the Old Testament, tells the story of the birth of Jesus but
also includes His death, Pentecost and looking forward to the end time, the eschaton.
Come hear the whole story, experience the music, be moved by the texts.
Some of what you hear will be familiar to you and some will be new, exciting, thoughtful and sublime.
Join us as we present this time-honored work with a Baroque sized orchestra in a setting which enhance the listener's experience.
(This activity is, in part, funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the
Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.)
Extra singers are needed for these concerts. (Click here if you are interested in auditioning for the Festival Choir.)

J. S. BACH'S BIBLE - Found in Michigan Farm House
Recently, Exultate performed the Mass in B Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach.
In connection with those performances we brought Bach's own personal Bible to the Twin Cities.
Our conductor, Dr. Thomas Rossin wrote his dissertation on this Bible and the marginal notes left in it by Bach himself.
American Public Media's program, "Speaking of Faith" has produced a wonderful multimedia slideshow on the Bible and the story of its discovery.
We welcome you to view this wonderful presentation. See and hear about the discovery of Bach's Bible in a farm house in Michigan.
Listen to a sound sample from each recording.
